Food Pantry

St. Paul's Food Pantry

St. Paul’s food pantry has been giving out food to those in need for over 30 years. Generally, we give out over 1,500 bags of food to almost 800 households each year. We serve the Greensboro community and are open Monday – Friday from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Families who come to us for grocery assistance are given two bags of groceries and a sandwich bag of hotel size toiletries.

Where does the food come from? All of the food is donated by our parishioners and friends of St. Paul the Apostle Parish.

Where do the people come from? Families are referred to us for grocery assistance from Social Service, Salvation Army, Hospice, Partnership for Health Management, Mental Health, Catholic Social Services, Greensboro Housing Authority, Red Cross, Greensboro Urban Ministry, Department of Veterans Affairs, Triad Healthcare Network, Interactive Resource Center or another church or doctor.

What items do we currently need? Our needs vary, please watch the bulletin and the weekly eblast for items needed.

Where do I put my donations? Baskets are in the Narthex for your donations.

How does the food pantry run? It takes many volunteers to run the food pantry. We have the following volunteer positions available:

Stocking:  Volunteers sort, date and stock donated food in the pantry off our kitchen. Volunteers choose their own date or dates to work each month.

Distribution:  Volunteers work from 10 am to 1 pm giving out food to those referred to us for grocery assistance. Volunteers choose their own date or dates to work each month.

We have a Blessing Box outside our food pantry doors that is filled with nonperishable food items for those in need. You are most welcome to add items directly to the Blessing Box at your convenience or take some items when you are in need.

Our Parish Food Pantry continues to serve those in need, thanks to the kindness of so many!

Thank you to all those who so faithfully bring food to restock our Food Pantry and to those who volunteer for this wonderful ministry.   For more information or if you are interested in helping out with the food pantry, please contact Amy Marmion at 336-294-4696 ext. 226.  If you are new to volunteering at St. Paul's, please go to our Volunteer Page to get registered to volunteer!
