Letter from our Pastor
We are a vibrant, growing and friendly Roman Catholic Church located in Greensboro, NC. We belong to the Diocese of Charlotte. We were established in July of 1974 and presently have over 1700 registered families. As our mission statement says, "St. Paul the Apostle Parish is a dynamic faith community in which all members embrace the Eucharist as the center of their individual and parish spirituality. We use our variety of God-given gifts and talents to build the Body of Christ through active engagement with our community and the whole Church."
Our parish members represent a rich diversity of ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds that have come together here in the South to make us a hospitable, and welcoming community. The good influence of so many cultures is evident: in a transient community, we make new friends readily and quickly. We strive to implement the vision of the Catholic Church expressed in the Second Vatican Council. The laity of St. Paul the Apostle parish exercise strong leadership on our consultative boards (the Parish Council, Finance Council, and Strategic Planning Committee); our Liturgies are joyful and dignified, with strong participation from the congregation; our Outreach programs are well respected in Greensboro and the surrounding communities for their service to the needs of the poor.
We are blessed to have many young families and lots of children at St. Paul parish. The education of those children is an essential part of our mission. We are blessed to have so many fine Catholic Schools in the city of Greensboro. Our faith formation programs provides excellent quality Catholic instruction for the children of our parish who attend the public schools. Our parish youth ministry program, SPY, provides the same for teenagers of our parish.
Our parish has embraced the concept of Stewardship of Time, Talent and Treasure. The results have been tremendous. We always had very generous members; however, the focus on Stewardship has inspired many more members to become involved in ministries, activities and organizations of the parish. In addition to that, the level of giving to the Church has increased, making it possible for us to expand our facilities and our mission.
If you will be visiting Greensboro, or if you are planning to settle in Greensboro, we welcome you to celebrate Sunday Mass with us. I think that you will find that St. Paul the Apostle parish has a great deal to offer. Thanks for inquiring about us.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Reverend John Allen
Pastor
